JEE Advanced 2026 Paper Review- The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 was conducted today, May 17, by IIT Roorkee for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Lakhs of engineering aspirants from across the country appeared for the highly competitive examination, which was held in two shifts.
Paper 1 was conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, while Paper 2 is scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. As per the examination rules, candidates are required to appear in both papers for their performance to be considered valid.

JEE Advanced 2026 Paper 1 Analysis
According to the initial reactions shared by students and coaching experts, JEE Advanced 2026 Paper 1 ranged from moderately difficult to challenging. The paper once again maintained the exam’s reputation for testing conceptual clarity, analytical thinking, and time management skills.
Among all three subjects, Mathematics emerged as the toughest and most lengthy section. Many students said the section involved lengthy calculations, multi-step problems, and time-consuming questions that affected overall speed.
Physics was considered highly conceptual, with several questions focusing on deep understanding and application-based thinking instead of direct formula usage.
Chemistry appeared relatively balanced compared to Maths and Physics, but candidates reported that some questions were tricky and required careful reading and interpretation.
Students Found Mathematics the Most Difficult
A large number of candidates described Mathematics as:
- Lengthy
- Calculation-intensive
- Multi-concept based
- Difficult to complete within time
Students said that maintaining accuracy while managing time became a major challenge in the Maths section.
One aspirant after the exam said:
“Maths consumed most of the time. Questions were not impossible, but they were very lengthy and required multiple concepts together.”
Physics Tested Conceptual Understanding
Physics in JEE Advanced 2026 Paper 1 focused heavily on conceptual depth and analytical application.
Experts noted that the paper included:
- Logic-based numerical problems
- Multi-concept applications
- Real understanding of core topics
- Less formula-based direct questions
Candidates who had strong conceptual preparation and problem-solving practice reportedly found the section manageable.
Chemistry Balanced But Tricky
Chemistry was comparatively easier than Mathematics but still included confusing and carefully framed questions.
Students reported that:
- Organic Chemistry was moderate
- Physical Chemistry involved calculations
- Inorganic Chemistry required conceptual clarity
Many aspirants felt Chemistry could become scoring only if questions were read carefully.
Expert Reaction on JEE Advanced 2026
Education experts said the examination was designed to test not just subject knowledge, but also:
- Accuracy under pressure
- Strategic question selection
- Time management
- Problem-solving ability
Dr. Saurabh Kumar, CEO and Founder of Shiksha Nation, said:
“Mathematics was undoubtedly the longest section, while Physics required exceptional conceptual depth. Chemistry, though manageable in parts, was deceptively tricky.”
Overall Difficulty Level
| Subject | Difficulty Level |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | Tough & Lengthy |
| Physics | Conceptual & Analytical |
| Chemistry | Moderate but Tricky |
Overall, students rated the paper between moderate to difficult.
Paper 2 Important for Final Performance
Experts believe that the final result and rank prediction will depend heavily on:
- Accuracy in both papers
- Balanced attempts
- Performance in Paper 2
- Negative marking management
Candidates who maintained composure and selected questions wisely are expected to gain an advantage in the final ranking.
JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Timings
| Paper | Timing |
|---|---|
| Paper 1 | 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon |
| Paper 2 | 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM |
What Next After JEE Advanced 2026?
After completion of both papers, IIT Roorkee is expected to release:
- Candidate response sheets
- Official answer keys
- Objection window
- Result date
- Rank list and counselling schedule
Qualified candidates will become eligible for the JoSAA counselling process for IIT admissions.
